Turn Based Racing 1.3.0

Race games usually require a lot of concentration, especially if they emulate reality really good. This kind of puts me off, especially if they play on a tablet. You can imagine then how delightful I was when I found out about Turn Based Racing. All the drama of an intense race in a step by step manner!

At the speed of the index finger

Although the title is fairly uninspired, Turn Based Racing advertises exactly what it does. That is racing turn by turn.

During a race, you will be able to set the steer direction and whether it will accelerate, break or keep a constant speed. All of this is done by dragging a vector on the magnified control area. Once you remove the finger, the car will perform the maneuver, while all of the competitors will do the same.

Although the first few races will take a bit longer to complete, once you familiarize yourself with the control scheme you will find yourself issuing commands fast, almost forgetting that you're not playing in real time.

First off! You will need to choose one touring car. There are three categories of cars with three models each. A faster less maneuverable one, its opposite and a balance between the two.

Each race will grant you experience points that will unlock new upgrades, new race tracks and new cars. Not only that, but finishing in a good place will also give cash rewards. Cash is used to purchase the aforementioned upgrades and cars.

There is also a online mode. Unfortunately it's not multiplayer, but an online ladder. Still, this is probably not the kind of game you'd want to play with others. Yet if some improvements would be made, Turn Based Racing could become quite an interesting competitive game. These would include: the ability to exit the track or collision detection between cars.

Conclusion

In any case, Turn based Racing is an interesting study of racing and how you should approach a curve on a racetrack. It might even prove to be a good training tool before engaging some other race simulation game.
